Information Leaflets on Rules & Codes of Practice
The Mental Health Commission wrote a number of revised documents for staff in approved centres on 1st January 2010. An approved centre is a hospital or in-patient service that is registered by the Mental Health Commission. The Commission wrote Rules and Codes of Practice for different interventions that staff may use in approved centres. The Commission also wrote Rules and a Code of Practice for when someone is treated with ECT. Rules are law and must be followed by staff who are giving you care and treatment. A code of practice is a guide to the best way of doing things. Information leaflets that aim to answer your questions about these documents are available for the:
- Rules on Seclusion
- Rules on Mechanical Restraint
- Rules and Code of Practice on ECT
- Code of Practice on Physical Restraint
