Information on use of ECT, Seclusion and Restraint
The Commission developed rules and codes of practice on the use of electro convulsive therapy, and on the use of seclusion, mechanical restraint and physical restraint. This standards apply in approved centres.
Rules are law and must be followed by staff who are giving you care and treatment.
A code of practice is a guide to the best way of doing things.
To tell you more about what these rules and codes of practice say, we have produced the following information leaflets which are written in plain English:
|What you need to know about the Rules on Seclusion||What you need to know about the Rules on Mechanical Restraint||What you need to know about the Rules and Code of Practice on Electro-Convulsive Therapy (ECT)||What you need to know about the Code of Practice on Physical Restraint|
|The service user information leaflet on ECT is currently being updated to reflect the revised ECT Rules and Code of Practice which came into effect on 15th February 2016|
