While many of our colleagues joined us in recent times, there are others who have been playing a low-key but critical role with us for years. We are proud that we continue to attract a committed and diverse staff mix.
They include mental health and health professionals, qualified accountants, legal professionals and specialists in the areas of regulation, GDPR, procurement, information technology, research, and administration. At any given time, there are numerous cross-divisional projects under way to assist the organisation to deliver on its objectives. By working across divisions, staff members regularly benefit from the opportunity to upskill, learn and collaborate with colleagues from other functions whose expertise may differ from their own.
To gain some further understanding of the available careers in the MHC, take a few minutes to read the testimonials below from some members of staff both long-serving and recent recruits from across our various divisions.
Ian Grehan, Head of Operations, Decision Support Service: “I have been with the MHC since 2018 working primarily with the Inspectorate division and across the regulatory team. During my time in the MHC, I’ve had the opportunity to work with many colleagues on many projects across many different areas of the organisation. While there are always challenges and new learnings, I really enjoy getting to develop my skills in both an interesting and supportive environment. Most importantly, I get to work daily with a great group of colleagues whose work truly makes a difference in mental health and decision support services in Ireland."
Anne Nolan, Mental Health Tribunals Division: "I've had the pleasure of working in the MHC for the past seven years. It has been a fantastic career path for me, working with colleagues from different professional backgrounds and areas of expertise. My career with the MHC has been very gratifying and rewarding and the relationships and learning that comes with my role keeps me engaged, challenged and proud of the work we do. The team environment is exceptional. I feel valued and the relentless team-driven approach to achieving our common goal of promoting, encouraging and fostering high standards and good practices in the delivery of mental health services gives me great job satisfaction. I can honestly say that I enjoy coming to work every day."
Matthew Morenigbade, Executive Officer, Corporate Operations - Finance: “I have worked in the MHC since 2006 and it’s a great place to work. The MHC is very progressive in many respects. It uses the latest in IT technology, their policies are family-friendly, and they are always looking at ways in which they can improve as an organisation. I enjoy my role here as finance administrator in Corporate Operations. It is varied. Every day is different, and I get the opportunity to work closely with my colleagues and our suppliers."
Patsy Fitzsimons, Head of Complaints and Investigations, Decision Support Service: “I joined the MHC recently in the role of Senior Manager for Complaints and Investigations in the Decision Support Service (DSS). The service has been established to implement the Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act 2015. My key task is to look after the division for dealing with complaints and investigations in relation to decision-making supporters and arrangements that arise once the 2015 Act. From my extensive previous experience of investigating complaints, I fully appreciate that it often takes a lot of courage for a person to make a complaint. I am also of the view that complaints provide a valuable source of information and learning for any service. My intention is that we will do our very best to support people in their decision-making roles and work collaboratively with them, wherever possible, to resolve disputes informally. However, where very serious issues arise, we will investigate them and may ultimately have to refer a case to court if we believe that a decision supporter is not suitable. Working alongside so many stakeholders, both within the MHC and externally, has been an incredible learning experience for me. I am looking forward to the many challenges and opportunities that lie ahead."
