Mental Health Commission Seclusion and Physical Restraint Reduction Strategy – Consultation Report

The Mental Health Commission carried out a written consultation exercise from June to September 2012 where we sought the views of stakeholders on the 18 actions included in our Draft Seclusion and Physical Restraint Reduction Strategy. Fifty-two responses were submitted which were representative of all major stakeholder groups.

The Commission would like to acknowledge its appreciation to everyone who participated in the consultation exercise. It is clear that a lot of effort and resources were involved in preparing submissions which we are especially grateful for.

The consultation report summarises the feedback that was submitted to us and is now available. Consultation findings and the numerous suggestions made will now be considered in detail by the Commission. We will shortly outline our proposals in relation to the seclusion and physical restraint reduction strategy that we intend to implement in 2013.
