We do not have the legal powers to investigate complaints made against a mental health service, but we can point you in the right direction.
If you have a complaint about a mental health service, you can visit www.healthcomplaints.ie, which will provide you with a step-by-step guide to having your complaint heard.
If you contact us with a concern about a specific service, we may direct you to the Inspector of Mental Health Services if appropriate. These issues are considered and acted upon immediately, or they are taken under consideration during the next inspection.
An issue of concern is a report from a member of the public. An issue of concern must fit within the scope of our mandate; i.e. it must relate to the health, wellbeing, or safety of a person in receipt of mental health services. Where we do not have the power to investigate, we will provide direction on how best to get the support, advice or information required.
If you feel that you do have an issue of concern to report to the MHC, please email concerns@mhcirl.ie.
