Join the panels of Mental Health Tribunal members

18 February 2022

The Mental Health Commission is seeking expressions of interest from individuals who wish to be considered for inclusion on the following panels:

  • Chairpersons for Mental Health Tribunals
  • Consultant Psychiatrists for Mental Health Tribunals and Independent Medical Examiners
  • Lay Members for Mental Health Tribunals

The Mental Health Acts provide for the independent review of people involuntarily admitted to approved centres (hospitals). Under the Acts, the Mental Health Commission is notified of each order involuntarily admitting a person. The Commission then refers each order to a Mental Health Tribunal for review. The Mental Health Tribunal consists of 3 members, a Barrister/Solicitor, a Consultant Psychiatrist and a Lay Member.

Experience and/or understanding of mental health services shall be required.

Closing date for applications is 14 March 2022.
