MHC supports poster competition for World Mental Health Day 2024

24 July 2024

The Mental Health Commission is partnering with mental health advocate Barbara Brennan who has launched a nationwide competition to design a mental health awareness poster for World Mental Health Day 2024. This initiative aims to stimulate national conversations on this crucial issue and integrate the importance of mental health into everyday life.

The competition aims to

  • Raise Awareness: Promote and normalise open conversations about mental health across Ireland.
  • Engage the Community: Involve the public in creating a meaningful symbol of mental health awareness, sparking national conversations with ease.
  • Highlight Expertise: Showcase the diverse voices and expertise within the mental health community, increasing awareness of the work done by partnering organisations.
  • Find 5 new designs to become World Mental Health Day 2024 posters

Chief Executive of the Mental Health Commission, John Farrelly, “As the regulator of inpatient mental health services in Ireland we are privileged to support these creative initiatives to broaden the conversation around mental health in communities and workplaces across Ireland. This competition also supports our organisation in furthering its engagement with stakeholders such as Mental Health Reform, First Fortnight, Suicide or Survive, the HSE, Spun Out and An Post.”

Barbara Brennan, commenting on the competition, said, “Mental health is a part of all our lives. We want to make conversations about it as normal as talking about the weather. This competition is an opportunity for everyone to contribute to a national dialogue on mental health.”

Let's make mental health conversations a part of our daily lives. Your voice matters – join us in creating a meaningful resource and help spark a national conversation about mental health!
