WATCH: learn more about our work with MHC Chief Executive, John Farrelly
17 October 2023We recently launched four videos that seek to inform all stakeholders, including the general public, about various aspects of the work of the Mental Health Commission.
Presented by our Chief Executive, John Farrelly, these videos focus on:
- the purpose of the Mental Health Commission
- the reason why regulation of Ireland’s mental health services is so important
- the powers of enforcement the Mental Health Commission currently has
- involuntary detention and a mental health tribunal
The Mental Health Commission was established under the Mental Health Act 2001 to promote, encourage and foster high standards and good practices in the delivery of mental health services in Ireland.
Our work is extensive, and can, sometimes, be challenging to fully appreciate and understand, particularly for those who don’t work in, or have some experience of, the mental health sector.
We hope that these four informational videos – the first in a series – will help to explain some of the broader aspects of our existence and our work. Please click on the link below and it will bring you to the video.
