Mental Health Tribunal Statistics

As part of this responsibility, the MHC considers that it is essential to publish accurate and up to date statistics matters relating to this process. The Commission is also obliged to prepare and submit an Annual Report in writing to the Minister for Health of its activities during the year. Included in that report, are the statistics relating to the mental health tribunals process.

The Tribunals team collates statistics on the mental health tribunal process on a monthly basis. These statistics are presented to the Senior Leadership Team and the Board of the Commission at its monthly meeting. The statistics are usually published on the website within 10 working days of the end of the relevant month.

At the end of each year the statistics for admission (from the community or by way of change of status) and renewal orders are validated with the relevant approved centres to ensure accuracy before inclusion in the Annual Report.
