An approved centre is a service registered by the Mental Health Commission to provide in-patient treatment to people suffering from mental illness. The MHC maintains a register of all approved centres.
Elm Mount Unit is an approved centre situated in St. Vincent’s University Hospital, Elm Park, Dublin 4. The unit is a partnership venture between the Health Service Executive (HSE) and the St. Vincent’s Healthcare Group.
St. Gabriel’s Ward is located on the grounds of St. Canice’s Hospital, in Kilkenny. Resident accommodation is in single, two-bed, or three-bed rooms, all of which are en suite.
The Department of Psychiatry, St Luke’s Hospital is located on the grounds of St. Luke’s General Hospital, in Kilkenny city. The approved centre serves the catchment area of Carlow, Kilkenny and South Tipperary.
