An approved centre is a service registered by the Mental Health Commission to provide in-patient treatment to people suffering from mental illness. The MHC maintains a register of all approved centres.
Tearmann Ward is located in St. Camillus’ Hospital, Shelbourne Road, Limerick, and an assessment unit for persons with advancing dementia and psychological and behavioural symptoms.
The Acute Psychiatric Unit is located within Ennis General Hospital. It provides acute in-patient mental health care to residents of North Tipperary and Co.Clare.
Creagh Suite is located in the grounds of St. Brigid’s Hospital, Ballinasloe and occupies part of a 1930’s limestone building, which was previously the hospital’s admission unit.
