Units 2, 3, 4, and Unit 8 (Floor 2), St Stephen's Hospital
The approved centre is located close to the village of Glanmire, seven kilometres from Cork city. It is comprised of four buildings co-located within the 117 acre grounds at St. Stephen’s Hospital. The North Cork area is served by multiple general adult sector teams (Fermoy and Mitchelstown, Mallow and Charleville, Kanturk and Newmarket). A Psychiatry of Later Life, and a Rehabilitation team also admits residents to the approved centre. Each admitting team has responsibility for the care of their residents. The approved centre consists of several units, including: Unit 2, which is dedicated to Psychiatry of Later Life care; Unit 3, which cares for male residents with severe and enduring mental illness; Unit 4, which is dedicated to acute admissions within the North Lee area; and, Unit 8, which provides care to residents with enduring mental illness and challenging behaviour.
